This painting is a landscape of a specific place, gorgeous Hanalei Bay, and an abstracted portrait of a woman, who is part me and part myth. The swirls behind and before her are representations of the sense of the movement of water that was always present when I lived there. This painting came through me in a very intuitive, abstract flash. The six-pointed star in the ocean symbolizes the union of opposites - air, water, earth, fire, and spirit - and the merging of the physical and spiritual.
